BMSZ places a high premium on the quality and adequacy of training programmes for biomedical professionals. This is because the safety of the patients and the public in general hinges on appropriately qualified medical laboratory personnel.

As a key stakeholder, BMSZ collaborates with biomedical schools to establish and maintain high standards of training for medical laboratory professionals through rigorous curriculum development and review. We collaborate with biomedical institutions to set up online resources for biomedical information and academic research.

Because of the limited funding for training, BMSZ envisions the establishment of a scholarship fund (BMSZ Scholar®) to help qualifying members upgrade  from diploma to degree, and degree to masters. Members who genuinely cannot afford university fees will be assisted under this scheme through a rigorous selection process by an expert scholarship panel.
